Job Details

  • Role: Security Consultant
  • Location: Edinburgh, Leeds, Halifax, Manchester or Bristol
  • Mode: Hybrid - 2 days per week (work from client location)
  • Type: Fixed term contract

About This Opportunity

Our Security Consultancy and Design team are looking for Cyber Security Consultants with broad knowledge of Cyber Security domains and controls, working across a wide range of computing platforms. Join our Chief Security Office for a major client as we build the bank of the future.

What You’ll Need

The ability to:

  • Develop, design secure solutions and produce a Security Design documenting the controls.
  • Deconstruct a solution / network architecture.
  • Identify and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities associated with proposed solutions.
  • Evaluate the soundness of solutions using industry standard practices (e.g., STRIDE, MITRE).
  • Translate threats into risks, assessing likelihood and impact using your knowledge and experience.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Produce and articulate Security Designs across the project and business.
  • Balance risks and benefits of competing Security design options.
  • Work comfortably on multiple challenging projects simultaneously.

Mandatory Skills

Experience with:

  • Security consultancy delivery (e.g., threat modelling, secure design, and driving security decisions).
  • Cloud-native platforms and modern architectures.
  • Developing a security-first perspective as opposed to infrastructure-focused responses.
  • Strengthening risk-based thinking across end-to-end systems (linking threats, risks, and controls).
  • Understanding security controls and their practical application.
  • Exposure to security standards and regulatory frameworks (PCI DSS, data protection).
  • Threat modelling, control coverage, and enhancing end-to-end design capability.
  • Examples of individual contribution and ownership in security decisions.

Useful Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly advantageous:

  • Awareness of industry standards (e.g., ISO 27000 series, PCI DSS, COBIT, NIST, OWASP).

  • Certifications in:

    • Security Management (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP or equivalent)
    • Technical Security domains (e.g., CEH, OSCP or equivalent)
  • Experience with public and private cloud environments.
