Security Control Room Operator

Security Control Room Operator – The Royal Academy of Arts

Vacancy

The Royal Academy of Arts is currently seeking a professional and vigilant Security Control Room Operator to join their Security team.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will ensure the safety and security of:

  • The Royal Academy’s premises
  • Artworks
  • Visitors
  • Employees

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and managing security systems via the RA’s control room
  • Detecting and responding to suspicious or unusual activity with minimal disruption
  • Controlling and verifying access to ensure only authorised persons and visitors are permitted entry

About You

You must demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a security control room environment or similar safety/security role
  • Working knowledge of:
    • CCTV
    • Alarm systems
    • Access control systems
  • Exceptional observation skills—ability to spot details and anomalies
  • Strong ability to:
    • Think critically
    • Resolve incidents calmly in high-pressure scenarios
    • Adapt to unforeseen circumstances

The role operates:

  • 45-hour contracts per week
  • Shift pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (including weekends and bank holidays)
  • Day shifts only
