Security Control Room Operator – The Royal Academy of Arts
Vacancy
The Royal Academy of Arts is currently seeking a professional and vigilant Security Control Room Operator to join their Security team.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will ensure the safety and security of:
- The Royal Academy’s premises
- Artworks
- Visitors
- Employees
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and managing security systems via the RA’s control room
- Detecting and responding to suspicious or unusual activity with minimal disruption
- Controlling and verifying access to ensure only authorised persons and visitors are permitted entry
About You
You must demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a security control room environment or similar safety/security role
- Working knowledge of:
- CCTV
- Alarm systems
- Access control systems
- Exceptional observation skills—ability to spot details and anomalies
- Strong ability to:
- Think critically
- Resolve incidents calmly in high-pressure scenarios
- Adapt to unforeseen circumstances

The role operates:
- 45-hour contracts per week
- Shift pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (including weekends and bank holidays)
- Day shifts only
