Security Controller

Position: Full-time

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK

Salary: £70,000+

About the role

As the Security Controller, you will be responsible for the delivery of security governance and protective practices across Callen-Lenz ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements and ensuring a secure and collaborative environment. You will assess risks, shape mitigation plans and support their implementation to keep people, assets and information safe.

Responsibilities

  • You will be seen by internal stakeholders as the security point of contact for any accredited sites and facilities.
  • Engagement with cross-functional teams to ensure that customers and company security requirements are being met.
  • Ensure delivery of Security Risk Management to address and reduce any identified risks to an acceptable level.
  • You will have overall contractual responsibility for the security management of government classified assets and information.
  • Carry out timely and proportionate response to and the processing of security incidents, to minimise the damage to the organisation.
  • Control and manage site access, ensuring only authorised personnel enter restricted areas.
  • Coordinate security incidents and emergency responses, liaising with internal teams and external agencies such as police, fire services, and emergency responders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential security threats or vulnerabilities.
  • Investigate security breaches, incidents, and suspicious activities, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate security logs, records, and incident documentation.
  • Support business continuity and emergency planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company security policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Monitor contractor and visitor activities where required.
  • Provide guidance and support to security officers and operational teams.
  • Deliver security briefings and promote security awareness across the organisation.
  • Review and update security procedures and operational instructions.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Health & Safety

  • Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner
  • Report all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.
  • When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.

Qualifications

  • Completion of DISA Security Controller or MoD Security Controller training is essential (if not already qualified).

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with Government Security policies including but not limited to: Government Standard 007, Government Security Classification scheme, Joint Service Publication 440/441, Information Assurance Standards.
  • Experience in a similar role (List X/FSC Security Controller or similar).
  • Ability to assess and report on security measures, ensuring policies remain current and robust.
  • Experience undertaking risk assessments and developing risk management plans.
  • The ability to prioritise workload, apply a pragmatic approach within the bounds of applicable legislation and multi-task in an agile working environment without compromising security outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve required security outcomes for the Company.
  • Experience with process improvement and implementation of changes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a security culture within the business.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications and security management systems.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and security regulations.

Desirable:

  • Experience within Defence or another regulated industry is highly desirable and considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 27001 is advantageous but not essential for this role.

Personal Attributes

  • Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Enthusiasm for their work and self-motivated.
  • A full valid UK driving license.
  • Current SC is essential, DV will be required for the role which requires 10 years UK residency.
