Position: Security Controller

Rate: £15.49 per hour

Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (Rotating Days & Nights)

Hours:

  • 07:00 – 19:00 / 19:00 – 07:00

Location: London, E14 4QZ


Role Purpose

As a Security Controller in a high-profile, multi-tenant corporate environment, you will act as the central hub for all safety and operational activities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Continuous monitoring of the building’s security systems
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for tenants and visitors
  • Coordinating responses to incidents, emergencies, or security breaches
  • Ensuring a seamless blend of technical surveillance expertise, administrative precision, and elite customer service

Key Responsibilities

1. Control Room Operations

  • Conduct proactive CCTV surveillance to maintain tenant, visitor, and asset safety
  • Manage electronic access control systems, including temporary badges for contractors and guests
  • Conduct regular equipment checks to ensure all cameras and systems are operational, logging faults for management review

2. Incident Response & Management

  • Coordinate emergency responses (fire alarms, medical incidents, security breaches) with on-site teams, building management, and emergency services
  • Compile detailed, factual, and professional reports for all on-site incidents
  • Monitor local news, police alerts, or security threats that may impact the building’s operations

3. Administration & Communication

  • Manage the security inbox, responding to tenant requests, access permit applications, and general inquiries
  • Maintain a strict key audit trail, ensuring physical keys are signed in, out, and accounted for at shift end
  • Conduct regular control room audits for access control and CCTV systems

4. Tenant & Visitor Relations

  • Provide a professional and welcoming approach via intercoms and radio communications

Requirements (Essential)

  • Licensing:

    • Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license
    • Valid SIA CCTV license
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in a corporate control room or multi-tenant environment
  • Technical Abilities:

    • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel) and access control software (e.g., CCure)
    • Proficiency in system monitoring, incident reporting, and audit processes
  • Reliability:

    • Commitment to a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Vetting:

    • Full 5-year checkable work/education history for BS7858 security vetting

Person Specification

  • Calm under pressure – Ability to remain composed and methodical in high-pressure emergency situations
  • Eye for detail – Naturally observant, noticing "small things" that others might miss
  • Exceptional communication skills –
    • Clear written English for reporting
    • Professional speaking voice for radio/phone communications
