Position

Title: Security Controller Rate: £15.49 per hour Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (Rotating Days & Nights) Hours:

  • Dayshift: 07:00 – 19:00
  • Nightshift: 19:00 – 07:00 Location: London, E14 4QZ

Role Purpose

As a Security Controller in a high-profile, multi-tenant corporate environment, you will be the central hub for all safety and operational activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Continuous monitoring of building security systems
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for tenants and coordinated incident response
  • Ensuring a blend of technical surveillance expertise, administrative accuracy, and elite customer service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Control Room Operations

  • Surveillance: Proactively monitor CCTV across the building while ensuring the safety of tenants, visitors, and assets.
  • Access Control: Manage electronic access control systems and issue temporary badges for contractors or guests.
  • System Integrity: Perform regular equipment checks to ensure cameras are operational; report faults to the management team.

2. Incident Response & Management

  • Emergency Coordination: Handle fire alarms, medical emergencies, or security breaches while coordinating with on-site supervisors, building management, and emergency services.
  • Incident Reporting: Compile detailed, factual, and professional incident reports for all on-site occurrences.
  • Situational Awareness: Monitor local news or police alerts affecting the building’s security stance.

3. Administration & Communication

  • Digital Liaison: Manage the security inbox, responding to tenant requests, access permit applications, and general inquiries.
  • Key Management: Maintain a strict key audit trail, ensuring all physical keys are tracked via sign-in/out procedures.
  • Data Entry & Auditing: Conduct regular control room audits for access control and CCTV systems.

4. Tenant & Visitor Relations

  • Service Excellence: Provide a professional and welcoming front-of-house experience via intercom and radio communication.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Licensing: Must hold a valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license, and a valid SIA CCTV license.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a corporate control room or multi-tenant environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel).
    • Familiarity with modern access control software (e.g., CCure, comparable systems).
  • Reliability: Commitment to a 4-on-4-off schedule, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Vetting: Ability to provide a 5-year checkable work/history record for BS7858 vetting.

Person Specification

  • Calm under pressure: Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Eye for detail: Natural observance to notice small risk factors that others may miss.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written English for report writing and persuasive professional verbal communication for radio/phone work.
