Security & Emergency Preparedness Advisor
Chemring Energetics UK is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence, and key commercial customers.
We’re looking for a Security & Emergency Preparedness Advisor to join our HSE team at Ardeer, reporting to the HSE Manager. This is a key role in managing the day-to-day fire management and security operations at Ardeer, ensuring that the site has suitable and sufficient controls to prevent fire and maintain resilience against any physical security threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and provide expert specialist security and emergency preparedness advice for the business.
- Lead and coordinate training for Emergency Response Teams (ERTs).
- Develop, maintain, and implement emergency plans to ensure a consistent and coordinated response system.
- Provide effective physical security practices for a high-hazard manufacturing facility.
- Develop security plans in line with relevant legislation and guidance.
- Manage the physical security operation at Ardeer, including the Security Officer team and interface with contractors.
- Assist the DGSA on transportation of hazardous materials entering and leaving the site.
- Implement Chemring Group Security Standards across Ardeer operations.
- Develop and enforce physical security standards, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Maintain security logs, documentation, and prepare regular security reports.
- Conduct security inspections, audits, and general monitoring to ensure compliance.
- Ensure compliance with the security provisions in the Explosives Regulations 2014 (L151).
- Support the development of ERT processes and COMAH emergency planning with Local Resilience Partnerships.
- Maintain an upward briefing and coordination system for strategic, tactical, and operational support.
- Lead investigations into physical security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct fire risk assessments, develop fire plans, and liaise with local fire services.
- Train fire wardens and staff in fire prevention, evacuation drills, and fire management assurance processes.
- Arrange regular fire alarm tests and site-wide fire drills.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualification with Security Institute – BTEC Level 3 Security Management.
- Knowledge of The Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006.
- Experience in security, logistics, or defence environments.
- Proven supervisory experience.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.

- NEBOSH Certificate – Fire & Risk Management (or equivalent).
