Work on technology that directly supports Defence and National Security. We are looking for experienced Security Engineers to help design, operate and improve secure digital solutions supporting UK Defence and National Security missions. Hands-on role focused on privileged access management, identity security, credential lifecycle management and operational security. You will work across highly secure environments where reliability, resilience and strong security controls are essential. Permanent role, salary up to £85,000 plus benefits with flexible, hybrid working from Farnborough.

About the role

You will work alongside security architects, infrastructure engineers, platform specialists and delivery teams to protect critical systems and support faster, safer operational decision-making.

The role covers the management of privileged accounts, credentials and secrets, alongside vulnerability management, access governance, security monitoring, audit and technical troubleshooting. It would suit a strong cyber security engineer who enjoys working at a detailed technical level and may be looking to progress towards security architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage privileged credentials, including passwords, SSH keys and API keys.
  • Configure and monitor automated credential rotation to prevent service disruption.
  • Run discovery scans to identify privileged accounts, service accounts and system dependencies.
  • Manage access controls, user roles, permissions and privileged session monitoring.
  • Monitor vulnerabilities, apply security patches and maintain platform security.
  • Review audit logs and correlate alerts with SIEM data to investigate suspicious activity.
  • Troubleshoot security issues involving firewalls, load balancers, identity systems and credential-management tools.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
