Security & Fire Prevention Officer
Employer: Carlisle Support Services
Location: Merica Park, Swadlincote, DE12 8AA (Just off M42 J11)
Contract: Permanent, full time
Hours: 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights; 12‑hour shifts (06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00); weekend and bank holiday working; average 42 hours per week
Pay: Up to £15.43 per hour
Role Overview
Carlisle Support Services is recruiting a Prevention Officer to join our site team at Merica Park. This is a hands‑on role combining first response emergency care, fire safety compliance and security leadership. You will work within a small, dynamic team on a rotating days/nights pattern to maintain a safe, compliant and resilient operation across a 365‑day site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide FREC 3 (First Response Emergency Care) and manage medical incidents on site. (FREC 3 training will be provided prior to starting.)
- Maintain fire safety compliance under BAFE standards, ensuring fire extinguishers and fire infrastructure are serviced and operational.
- Follow and deliver a detailed schedule of fire infrastructure maintenance and daily safety activities.
- Promote and embed a strong security culture across the site.
- Lead and support the on‑site team, demonstrating effective leadership and decision making under pressure.

Person Specification And Requirements
- Valid and in date SIA badge (essential).
- Physically fit: must pass a multistage fitness (bleep) test to level 5.6 and an annual Chester Step Test to level 3.
- Basic First Aid at Work training and experience; comfortable attending and managing medical incidents.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within security, fire prevention, or emergency response.
- Proactive, resilient, self‑motivated and able to work in a demanding, dynamic operation.
- Willingness to work rotating days and nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Assessment: Candidates must pass a physical assessment (20m shuttle bleep test) to progress to the assessment centre.
