Job Opportunity: Security Lead
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Security Lead based in United Kingdom.
This is an excellent opportunity to shape and lead the security strategy of an innovative, cloud-native technology environment supporting cutting-edge AI applications. As a hands-on technical leader, you will own security across cloud infrastructure, applications, corporate IT, and operational processes while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams. You will play a key role in embedding security into every stage of the development lifecycle, strengthening compliance, and ensuring resilience against evolving cyber threats. This role offers significant autonomy, strategic influence, and the opportunity to build scalable security practices in a fast-growing, remote-first organization. Accountabilities
- Lead and continuously improve cloud, application, and corporate security across infrastructure, systems, and business operations.
- Design and maintain secure AWS architectures, identity and access management, network security, and configuration management practices.
- Drive application security initiatives, including secure development practices, threat modeling, and automated security testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Own the incident response program by developing playbooks, coordinating response efforts, and enhancing threat detection and operational readiness.
- Manage vulnerability identification, prioritization, remediation, and ongoing risk reduction in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Maintain and optimize security tooling, including monitoring, logging, SIEM, alerting, endpoint protection, and secrets management solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate security into architecture and design decisions while supporting compliance initiatives such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Lead customer-facing security reviews, oversee IT security operations, and continuously strengthen the organization's overall security posture through emerging best practices.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in technical security roles.
- At least 5 years of experience in security engineering, cloud security, application security, or related cybersecurity disciplines.
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS security architecture, IAM, network security, DevOps environments, and infrastructure-as-code security.
- Experience implementing secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and collaborating closely with engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat detection methodologies.
- Experience supporting or maintaining security compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Ability to influence technical teams, build trusted cross-functional relationships, and promote security best practices throughout the organization.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills with a pragmatic approach that balances security, usability, and business objectives.
- Experience with GDPR, leadership responsibilities, AI-driven SaaS platforms, pharmaceutical environments, or enterprise customer security reviews would be considered an advantage.
