Security Liaison Officer
Salary: £24,853 per annum, Pro Rata
Up to 12 Months Fixed Term Contract
Location: Birmingham
Full Time 37.5 per week
We are St Andrew’s — a mental health charity with a clear purpose: to inspire hope for people living with complex mental health needs. Our Birmingham site is on an ambitious improvement journey.
As we continue to evolve, we are looking for a professional, calm, and proactive Security Officer to join our team.
St Andrew's Birmingham is a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprises of eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.
Security Liaison Officer
This role is vital in maintaining a safe and secure environment while supporting patients, staff, and visitors.
You will act as a key point of contact between security services, clinical teams. Escorting visitors and contractors around the site including ward environments. Working in this environment requires strong communications skills, emotional awareness and the ability to manage situations with patience and respect, ensuring a clear coordinated approach to safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible security presence across the site
- Monitor and respond to incidents, ensuring safety procedures are followed
- Support staff in managing challenging situations, using de-escalation where appropriate
- Communicate clearly with patients, staff and visitors
- Conduct regular patrols and security checks
- Escorting visitors and contractors around the site including wards
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and security policies
Requirements
- Previous experience in security, healthcare or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good understanding of safety, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Respectful, patient, non-judgemental and empathic approach when working in a mental health environment
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence
