About the Role
The Security & Networks Portfolio Director is responsible for defining and evolving Node4’s Security & Networks portfolio, ensuring it is outcome-led, commercially successful, and aligned with customer and market needs.
The role owns the strategic intent of the Security & Networks portfolio—the vision, roadmap, investment priorities, and lifecycle decisions—working collaboratively with alignment Practice leadership for delivery, operational viability, and in-life performance.
The Security & Networks Portfolio Director ensures offerings are coherent, scalable, and positioned around customer journeys, rather than individual products. Collaboration with Practices, Product & Portfolio Operations, GTM, Commercial, and Architecture teams is essential.
Portfolio Scope & Ownership
This role is accountable for the definition, direction, and governance of the following elements of the Node4 portfolio, including:
- Security Services: SOC (Security Operations Centre), Threat Detection, MXDR (Managed Extended Detection & Response), Vulnerability Assessment, Penetration Testing, Incident Response
- Network Services: SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network), SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Connectivity, Network Support Services
These examples represent core areas within scope, with potential oversight of adjacent or evolving services as the domain develops.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Direction
- Set the overall direction for the Security & Networks portfolio
- Define the portfolio’s vision, positioning, and roadmap
- Translate customer needs and market trends into clear priorities
- Align with Node4’s wider strategy
- Make investment, evolution or retirement decisions for offerings
Customer Journeys & Offering Design
- Ensure the portfolio focuses on outcomes, not individual products
- Define end-to-end customer journeys and how offerings combine
- Ensure offerings are coherent, structured, and easy to understand
- Define and support entry points (e.g., assessments, pilots, packaged offers)
- Collaborate with Product & Portfolio Operations for detailed productisation and SKU design

Commercial Performance & Growth
- Ensure the portfolio drives commercially effective growth
- Drive sustainable revenue growth across the Security & Networks portfolio
- Shape pricing, packaging, and commercial models with Practice and GTM teams
- Enhance portfolio-level margins and long-term economic sustainability
- Support key opportunities and ensure offerings are useful in real customer deals
- Simplify and streamline the portfolio focus
Innovation, AI & Portfolio Evolution
- Ensure the portfolio remains relevant to evolving customer demand
- Identify and embed AI capabilities across the portfolio
- Support development of new services and MVPs (Minimum Viable Products)
- Align with strategic partners (e.g., Microsoft) for direction and opportunities
- Guide portfolio evolution based on market changes
Adoption, Value & Lifecycle
- Ensure offerings provide ongoing value, beyond initial sales
- Define strategies for adoption, expansion, and retention
- Make evidence-based portfolio lifecycle decisions
- Collaborate with Practice and Services teams to deliver in-life value
- Enhance customer lifetime value through portfolio design
Architecture & Standards
- Ensure the portfolio adheres to consistent, scalable, and supportable architectural principles
- Set high-level architectural direction and standards for the domain
- Lead architects to align designs with portfolio objectives
- Ensure offerings conform to reference architectures and avoid bespoke solutions
Collaboration & Alignment
- Work with other Portfolio Directors to deliver seamless solutions
- Contribute to cross-domain customer journeys
- Provide guidance to Sales Enablement and GTM teams
- Maintain alignment with architecture and delivery teams for viability and scalability
Leadership Responsibilities
- Strategic Ownership of the Security & Networks portfolio
- Provide direction to Product Managers, Architects, and R&D teams
- Partner with Practice Leaders for alignment
- Represent the portfolio in leadership and governance forums
- Ensure the portfolio operates as a coherent, outcome-led system
- Lead and guide architectural functions within Security & Networks
What You'll Bring
We seek candidates who can:
- Demonstrate proven experience leading the strategy for complex Security and/or Network services portfolios within managed services, technology, or cloud ecosystems
- Exhibit strong commercial acumen, balancing customer outcomes, revenue growth, profitability, and portfolio investment
- Possess a deep understanding of enterprise security and network technologies, market trends, and challenges while translating them into compelling service offerings
- Have experience in developing portfolio roadmaps, prioritising investments, and making evidence-based lifecycle decisions across multiple services
- Experience shaping customer-centric propositions and leveraging end-to-end service journeys to meet real business needs beyond individual technologies
- Exhibit strategic thinking, identifying emerging market opportunities (including AI, automation, and evolving security threats)
- Work collaboratively with technical, commercial, architecture, and go-to-market teams to implement and adopt new services
- Display strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, leveraging credibility to engage senior leaders, partners, and customers
- Simplify complex technical concepts into clear commercial value propositions and strategy
- Lead cross-functional teams and provide direction to Product Managers, Architects, and specialist teams
- Use data-driven decision-making, leveraging market insight, customer feedback, and commercial analytics to continuously evolve the portfolio
- Demonstrate a collaborative leadership style, with passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and measurable customer outcomes
