Security Officer – Aviation Manufacturing

Shift pattern: 4 on, 4 off (days and nights), 12h shifts
Weekly hours: ~ 42h

The role
We're recruiting Security Officers to join our Emergency Response Team supporting a prestigious client in the Aviation & Manufacturing sector. This is a varied, operational role focused on maintaining a secure, safe and resilient manufacturing environment, while responding effectively to security, safety and emergency incidents.
You'll engage with employees, contractors, visitors and external agencies, acting as a professional first responder and a visible ambassador for safety and security on site. Full training is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver reception-based security and administrative duties
- Control site access for personnel, visitors and vehicles, including inductions, ID verification, keys and passes
- Conduct searches to protect client assets, materials and IT equipment
- Patrol the site (foot, mobile and CCTV), monitoring critical infrastructure, behaviour, drone activity and suspicious items
- Monitor and respond to fire, intruder and building alarms, logging all actions and outcomes
- Act as first responder to security, fire, medical and environmental incidents
- Carry out emergency response activities including first aid, fire response and incident containment
- Perform routine system, alarm and safety checks; report faults via CAFM/estates systems
- De-escalate conflict professionally in line with legislation, client and Mitie policies
- Accurately report incidents, near-misses and breaches, gathering evidence and statements
- Work closely with client security management and operational teams
- Adhere to PPE, health & safety, GDPR and cyber security requirements

Workplace emergency response
- Conduct fire and health & safety checks and escalate risks
- Respond to chemical spills, flooding and environmental hazards
- Provide first aid and coordinate emergency services where required
- Support fire incidents within training scope and liaise with Fire & Rescue Services
- Use body-worn cameras, radios and emergency response driving awareness as required
Person specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor licence (CCTV licence or willingness to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
- Right to work in the UK with 5-year checkable background
- British nationality or UK residency for 5 years
- Ability to obtain CTC (Counter Terrorism Clearance)
- Flexible to work days, nights and weekends
- Professional, proactive and calm under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and report writing skills
- IT literate (Microsoft Office / Outlook)
- Physically fit with the stamina to perform emergency response duties
