Security Supervisor – National Grid, Eakring, NG22 0DA

📍 Location: Newark | Pay Rate: £14.67 per hour

Monday – Friday 0700-1700 - 50 hours a week

Job Overview

To provide a comprehensive security service covering buildings, grounds, property, and car parks in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for the client, customers, colleagues, and visitors.

Main Duties

Operations

  • To ensure everybody in the team are aware of, and meet the legal and Company requirements for fire, safety, health, and hygiene
  • To report health and safety issues to the line manager, including all accidents and near misses
  • To promote good safety habits and methods of work
  • To manage the site including grounds and car parks in line with the Company security policy, whilst adhering to the Data Protection Act
  • To monitor the CCTV system at all times
  • To carry out frequent patrols in accordance with set security/fire procedures including safety checks, reporting of defects, and attendance at incidents
  • To lock and unlock areas and set intruder alarms and liaise with the police in the event of an alarm when applicable
  • To assist in preventing acts of violence, crime, or disorder and to investigate incidents of theft, criminal damage, etc. which may occur
  • To remove trespassers and unauthorised persons where appropriate
  • To provide escort duties as required, including the movement of cash and valuables
  • To deal with incidents relating to lost and found property
  • Work in a systematic, methodology, and orderly way.

Training

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
  • You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss, or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
  • To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

Basic Duties & Responsibilities Security Supervisor

  • External, internal patrols
  • Emails, telephone calls, reporting site incidences to the site manager and Ops manager
  • E-learning
  • Handling keys in safe, staff car keys
  • Scheduling Staff where required
  • Merlin- DOB, tasks.
  • Temp access cards management
  • Gatehouse duties/Reception Duties
  • Health and safety reporting, IMS
  • Managing emails, visitor sheet, contractors in Weekend & BH
  • Raising jobs to helpdesk- 165, BH for emergency jobs eg: flood, leaking roof, gates & barriers issue etc.
  • Incident Controller 2 outside of normal office hours
  • Activate cards, apps cards using Gallagher system.
  • Various jobs as per request by client
  • Processing Alarms on fire, argon panel, weekly Monday fire alarm test during weekend & BH
  • Smoke heads isolation in zones request by contractors or their hosts.
  • Knowledge of REDCARE (CHISEL), role during real or false alarm, during 6 monthly fire drill.
  • Managing cover officer, patrol officer when on shift as supervisor.
  • First aid, panic alarm management.
  • Adding late booked, out of hrs booked visitor, contractors in visitor sheet on weekend & BH
  • Dealing with incidents, calling emergency services if needed eg: protestor, drone, photo video taking, intrusion, trespass, bomb threat, audit etc.
  • Managing Traffic during broken gate, barrier.
  • This list is not exhaustive and additional Duties & Responsibilities can be added by Mitie

Additional Duties

  • Reporting incidents, faults to manager, DPM depending on nature of incident during weekend & BH.
  • Monitoring CCTV, rebooting, reporting finding.
  • Reporting incidents to OOH Duty Property Manager/Night Supervisor
  • Merlin- DOB, tasks, reporting incident/accidents.
  • Essential training to new cover officer, patrol officer.
  • Daily CCTV checks, recording in sheet.
  • Incident Controller outside of normal office hours
  • Ensuring details/notes/handovers are completed between shifts OOH

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous Security Experience
  • Door Supervisor SIA License
  • SC Clearance desirable
  • Full Driving licence

  • Good Communication skills
  • Good PC knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint
