Position Title Metrocentre Security Officer
About the Role
The Metrocentre Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of security and customer service for both customers and retailers. This public-facing role requires consistent professionalism and courtesy at all times, ensuring the centre is a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
A can-do attitude is essential, along with the ability to adapt to a dynamic, customer-oriented environment.
What This Role Attracts
- Full-time permanent position: Fixed shift pattern with 40 hours per week
- Shift options: Rotates between day shifts (starting at 07:00) and late shifts (ending at midnight) – flexible timings may adjust based on demand.

Security Protocol & Incident Response
- Act as part of a rostered security team covering both day and late shifts.
- Deliver smart appearance compliance to company uniform policies.
- Liaise with external agencies (local authorities, law enforcement) as required.
- Ensure an appropriate, timely response to all incidents, while supporting third-party contractors and visitors.
- Conduct proactive patrols, focusing on deterring suspicious activity and safeguarding public well-being.
Compliance & Administrative Tasks
- Operate Counter Terrorism Training to reinforce site security procedures.
- Restrict unauthorised access by excluded or disruptive individuals.
- Use radio communication effectively, maintaining professionalism and adherence to site protocol.
- Keep accurate records including Health & Safety documentation, incident reports, reference materials.
Flexibility & Adaptability
- Perform additional duties as needed to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Access to own transport or reliable public transport.
- Current SIA Door Supervision or Guarding Licence (required).
- Proven experience in a customer-focused environment.
- First aid certified, or willingness to undertake training.
Desirable
- CCTV SIA Licence.
- Qualifications or professional development in security operations.
- Prior security experience in a high-traffic, customer-centric setting.
Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to articulate clearly and credibly with staff and non-staff alike.
- Capable of working independently, taking responsibility for tasks.
- Composure and adaptability under pressure.
- Embody a neat and smart appearance.
