Location: Reading Hours: Full-time (4 on, 4 off), days 07:00–19:00 and nights 19:00–07:00 Pay: £14.40 per hour


About the Role

Job Title: Security Officer

Contract: Permanent

Are you a vigilant, dedicated professional looking for a rewarding career in security? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming staff and visitors while creating a safe and professional atmosphere
  • Conducting regular patrols and monitoring premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism
  • Managing access points, CCTV, and security procedures
  • Responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents
  • Completing detailed reports on daily activities and incidents
  • Assisting in emergencies, including evacuations and first aid support if required
  • Responding calmly and confidently to incidents and adapting to different client sites

What We’re Looking For

  • Must hold a current DS SIA Legion
  • Proven experience in a security or similar role
  • Strong observational skills to detect and handle security threats
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, visitors, and authorities
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and public holidays
