Retail Security Relief Officer – Tesco Partnership
Location: Heanor, DE75 7EX
Covering: Heanor, Alfreton, Ilkeston and various stores across Nottingham City Centre
Pay: £13.47 per hour
Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Sunday – Early and Late Shifts (Full Flexibility Required)
Shift Times: Early starts from 06:00 and late finishes up to 00:00
Requirements: Valid SIA Security Guard Licence and Own Transport Essential
About The Role
Kingdom Group, a trusted partner to Tesco, is seeking a professional, reliable, and customer-focused Retail Security Relief Officer to provide cover for holidays, sickness, and other absences across multiple store locations.
This Role Involves Supporting Stores In
- Heanor DE75 7EX
- Alfreton DE55 7BT
- Ilkeston DE7 8DG
- Various stores across Nottingham City Centre
The successful candidate must be able to travel and work within approximately a 10–15 mile radius of the locations listed above. Due to the nature of the role, own transport is essential.
This is a relief position requiring full flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays in line with operational requirements.
While full-time hours cannot be guaranteed initially, there is potential for hours to increase over time, with opportunities to progress into a permanent full-time role subject to business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring and patrolling premises regularly
- Conducting internal and external patrols
- Acting as a visible deterrent to theft, damage, trespassing, and anti-social behaviour
- Responding to alarms, incidents, and emergencies
- Controlling access to buildings and restricted areas
- Conducting searches where authorised and appropriate
- Monitoring CCTV systems and reporting suspicious activity
- Completing accurate incident and occurrence reports
- Carrying out opening and closing procedures
- Checking fire exits, safety equipment, and security systems
- Monitoring vehicles, deliveries, and vulnerable areas
- Reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards
- Liaising with police, fire service, ambulance crews, and other emergency services when required
- Ensuring compliance with site rules, company procedures, and health and safety policies
- Managing conflict situations professionally and calmly

Customer Service Responsibilities
- Providing a professional and welcoming presence at all times
- Greeting visitors, customers, and colleagues courteously
- Assisting customers and staff when required
- Providing directions and site information
- Supporting store operations alongside Tesco colleagues
- Handling complaints and difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Maintaining a high standard of appearance and professionalism
Emergency Responsibilities
- Assisting with building evacuations during emergencies
- Providing first aid support where appropriately trained
- Preserving crime scenes when necessary
- Reporting incidents immediately to management
- Completing all required emergency documentation accurately
What We're Looking For
- Valid SIA Security Guard Licence (essential)
- Own transport and ability to travel between locations (essential)
- Full 5-year checkable work history
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent observation and attention to detail
- Professional, confident, and reliable approach
- Good conflict management and decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays
- Previous security experience desirable but not essential
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude
