Security Officer
Security Officer – Galleries Shopping Centre (Permanent, 42 hrs/week)
Location & Contract
Location: Galleries Shopping Centre Contract: Permanent (42 hours per week) Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off Pay: £12.90 per hour

Role Overview & Purpose
This critical role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do, professional attitude is essential, along with a commitment to delivering exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service for the shopping centre’s clients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Engagement
- Readily interact with all visitors and tenants, providing first-class, customer-focused service
- Proactively assist visitors and identify opportunities to enhance their shopping experience
Patrols & Proactive Safety
- Conduct regular patrols of the shopping centre as per site assignment instructions
- Maintain vigilance and proactively monitor suspicious behaviour, logging and reporting incidents
Incident Management & Compliance
- Ensure all incidents are handled in line with site policies and procedures
- Liaise with the Site Control Room to react swiftly, brief colleagues, and ensure support
- Immediately report unsecure areas and take action to resolve issues
- Record/log non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate Control Room operatives
- Manage emergencies effectively, keeping the centre team fully informed

Surveillance & Access Control
- Monitor and surveil suspect individuals per company policies, logging and reporting any incidents
- Prevent unauthorised access by banned individuals
Administrative & Communication Duties
- Adhere to radio procedures at all times
- Ensure all events and incidents are accurately documented in the Security Officer notebook
- Respond timely to all security issues and events
- Complete mandatory training as required by your line manager
- Cover 1+ additional shift/month if needed to cover absence/leave
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team to integrate services and improve safety
- Work collaboratively as one cohesive team
