Security Officer

Retail Security Officer – M&S

Location: M&S Canterbury – 4 St Georges Street, Canterbury, CT1 2SR

Salary: £14.90 per hour Hours: Guaranteed 40+ per week


About the Role

What You’ll Do

You’ll be a visible and approachable presence in our fast-paced retail environment:

  • Support customers & colleagues

    • Greet customers as they enter, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere while addressing concerns professionally.
    • Assist both store teams and shoppers during their visit.
  • Protect store assets & safety

    • Prevent loss, respond to incidents, and identify potential risks.
    • Work with store teams to uphold safety standards and emergency procedures.
  • Leverage digital tools

    • Use technology (e.g. mobile reporting systems, body-worn cameras) for incident tracking and secure reporting.
  • Maintain composure under pressure

    • Handle challenging situations with confidence and alignment to M&S’s values.

Requirements

  • Preferences: Security or customer service experience
  • Certification: Benefits from (or are willing to obtain) an SIA licence—essential after a qualifying period
