Security Operations Center Analyst

SOC Analyst (Watford, UK)

Role Overview

Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience Onsite role, shift work (4 on / 4 off) Must be eligible for Defence & Veterans (DV) clearance

About the Company

Our client operates a growing Security Operations Centre (SOC), delivering cyber defence services to organisations across multiple industries—spanning critical infrastructure to complex enterprise environments. Their team prioritises high-quality detection, investigation, and continuous improvement, rather than simply providing alert-only monitoring.

To support ongoing growth, the client is seeking a SOC Analyst to strengthen their operations and help mature their security services.

The SOC Analyst Role

As a SOC Analyst, you will play a critical role in protecting client environments by:

  • Monitoring, investigating, and responding to security events
  • Working in a 24/7 onsite SOC to handle incidents
  • Contributing to detection improvements
  • Producing clear, structured reporting for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Gaining hands-on exposure to diverse cybersecurity technologies and real-world threats

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk
  • Strong understanding and application of the MITRE ATT&CK framework
  • Knowledge of networking and systems, including:
    • TCP/IP
    • Firewalls
    • VPNs
    • Endpoint security
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce clear, actionable reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Eligibility for SC (Security Cleared) clearance

  • Scripting or programming experience, including:
    • Python
    • PowerShell
    • Bash
    • Perl
    • C++
  • Experience with additional SIEM tools such as QRadar
  • Cyber security certifications including:
    • CompTIA Security+
    • EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity (CPSA)
    • CREST-approved qualifications
