Job Title: Security Operations Engineer
Employment type: Full time, permanent. Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in the Manchester office.
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
We're looking for a skilled and proactive Security Operations Engineer to help protect AccessPay's people, platforms, and customers. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cyber Security team, where you'll play a key role in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats while continuously improving our security capabilities.
Working closely with the Cyber Security Manager and Engineering teams, you'll help ensure security is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle, strengthen our detection and response capabilities, and support the delivery of a secure-by-design culture. Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, manage, and continually improve AccessPay's security operations capability across cloud, endpoint, network, and application environments.
- Lead the investigation, triage, and response to security incidents, helping to minimise risk and improve resilience.
- Develop and optimise detection rules, automations, and security tooling to improve threat detection and response.
- Work closely with Engineering teams to identify vulnerabilities and embed security throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Coordinate vulnerability management activities, from scanning and prioritisation through to remediation and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI-powered security tooling and automation to strengthen detection capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and support proactive threat management.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Experience working within a Security Operations, Cyber Security, or Information Security role.
- Strong scripting or programming skills (such as Python or PowerShell) to build automations and integrations.
- Experience using application security testing methodologies such as SAST, DAST, SCA, and SBOM.
- Knowledge of security monitoring technologies, SIEM platforms, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- An understanding of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, or SWIFT CSP.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with cloud security, security automation, Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), and AI-enabled security tooling would be advantageous.
