🚀 Security Operations Engineer | £55,000 (flexibility for the right candidate) | Hybrid (Leeds)
We're looking for a Security Operations Engineer to join a growing Security Operations team within a well-established Managed Service Provider. This isn't a traditional SOC Analyst position — you'll take ownership of customers' operational security, balancing hands-on engineering with governance activities to improve security posture across multiple client environments.
You'll work across technologies including Microsoft Defender, Mimecast, Barracuda, CrowdStrike, Bitdefender and Microsoft 365, helping customers strengthen their cyber resilience through proactive vulnerability management, tooling optimisation and security best practice. As one of the senior members of a small SecOps team, you'll also mentor junior engineers and help shape the future of the managed security offering.
If you want a role where you genuinely influence how security services are delivered — not just respond to alerts all day — this is well worth a conversation.
✨ Why this role stands out:
- Genuine influence over how security services are delivered
- Mix of hands-on engineering and governance across leading Microsoft and endpoint security tooling
- Senior role with real scope to mentor and shape service direction

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
