Job Description
We're looking for a talented Security Operations Engineer to protect the firm's information assets and keep our security operations running at their best.
The role
As a Security Operations Engineer, you'll operate within our internal Security Operations function, supporting the Infrastructure Manager in protecting the firm's information assets through the day-to-day operation of security controls, monitoring and responding to security events, and continually improving security operations in line with firm policy and recognised standards. The role sits within IT Operations and works closely with Infrastructure, Service Delivery and Technology Support to ensure security is embedded into operational processes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deploying, configuring and operating Microsoft 365 E5 security features – including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel and Purview – whilst acting as a primary contact for security alerts, incidents and investigations, from triage through to containment and remediation.
- Supporting the internal SOC function through alert tuning, runbook development and incident reporting, alongside leading vulnerability management activities including scanning, tracking and remediation.
- Contributing to audit, compliance and awareness activities – including ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials – and assisting in the development and delivery of security awareness training and phishing simulations across the firm.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
