MOD Corsham, Westwells Road, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9GB

Job Summary

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At the SDA, we strive to Support, Deliver and Aspire and put our values at the heart of our recruitment process. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable to be themselves and be supported to do their best work. As part of a diverse and inclusive workforce, our team will find a community to belong to. We believe that, by celebrating different backgrounds and different perspectives, together we’ll achieve the extraordinary.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

The primary delivery location for this position is MOD Corsham.

Please note, due to the level of security, this role is reserved for UK nationals only.

Job Description

Are you ready to take on a role that supports one of the largest and most complex programmes in defence? The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is seeking a Security Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team in Corsham.

Our team is a diverse mix of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists, working together to deliver critical defence capabilities. As a Security Operations Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our people, assets, and operations. This is a unique opportunity to develop your expertise in Ministry of Defence (MOD) security policies and procedures while contributing to the success of a programme that is essential to national security.

In this role, you will support physical security operations by coordinating and deploying measures to protect information, people, buildings, and equipment across the site. You will assist in planning, testing, and responding to security and emergency incidents, while also conducting assurance activities to address site security risks and drafting evidence-based risk mitigation statements for decision-makers.

You will develop and embed site security instructions and orders, implement effective security governance, and provide guidance, education, and training for all staff. Promoting a culture of security awareness and best practice across the organisation will be a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will maintain strong relationships with service providers, including the MOD Guard Service, to ensure a coordinated security approach. Other security operations tasks may be delegated to you by the Establishment Security Officer.

We are seeking a proactive individual with a passion for security and a commitment to excellence. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment, working alongside experienced professionals.

Due to security constraints, this post is exempt from hybrid working requests. Requests for flexible and condensed working patterns can be considered but may be limited. Candidates should consider this and must discuss with recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Reasonable Adjustments

We welcome applications from disabled candidates and candidates with long-term conditions. Due to the designated working area level for this role known as Information Protection Zone (IPZ) permission will need to be sought for any medical devices or assistive technology to be used in the IPZ. This is because the type of technology used is prohibited due to security. Permission is granted on a case by case basis and it is an essential function of the role to be able to work in the designated IPZ area.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
