About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Security Operations Team Manager to lead our Security Operations function, ensuring effective protection against cyber threats through security monitoring, incident response, and operational risk management.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Security Operations across monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence. You'll lead a small team of cyber security professionals, work closely with technology and business stakeholders, and ensure operational security remains aligned with organisational priorities and risk appetite.
As a regulated organisation, we need someone who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution, focusing on what matters most: protecting the organisation from real-world cyber threats while driving continual improvement in our security capabilities.
The role follows a hybrid working pattern, with regular attendance required at our Bournemouth office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Security Operations team, setting clear objectives and priorities.
- Manage relationships with security service providers, MDR/SOC partners, and key technology teams.
- Maintain oversight of security incidents, cyber threats, vulnerability exposure, and remediation activities.
- Drive operational governance, reporting, and security metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate cyber incident response activities and ensure lessons learned are embedded.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of incident response plans, playbooks, and procedures.
- Ensure operational risks are identified, assessed, escalated, and managed effectively.
- Help shape and mature security operations capability in line with business growth and evolving threats.
- Provide clear leadership during cyber security incidents and high-pressure operational situations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
