Security Performance Team Lead

Head of Joint Security Coordination Centre (JSyCC)

Location: City of Westminster, London (region), SW1A 2HB Type: Permanent (37 hours per week) Salary: £46,040 plus £13,337 employer-support into Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme

About the Role

This new and exciting leadership role at Defence Security and Resilience (DSR) will placed within the Joint Security Coordination Centre (JSyCC), the central team responsible for coordinating, responding to, and analysing security incidents across Defence.

You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-impact operational, analytical, and leadership outputs, supporting the JSyCC Assistant Head in shaping security strategy across DSR.

In this thought-leadership role, you will:

  • Turn incident data into actionable insight supporting Defence-wide security planning and decision-making.
  • Bridge the gap between analytical teams, incident responders, and senior leadership (Defence Board, Audit Committee, and governance boards).
  • Deputise for the JSyCC Assistant Head in setting priorities, managing crises, and delivering urgent operational responses.
  • Conduct cross-functional analysis to enhance incident reporting consistency, quality, and timeliness.
  • Lead one data analyst and an operations manager, developing their skills and ensuring delivery of bespoke reports and dashboards.

This is more than an analytical role—it’s a leadership position where powerful communication, strategic insight, and expert delivery drive resilience improvements for UK Defence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team to produce dashboards, briefings, and analysis supporting Defence’s security incident management.
  • Depute for the JSyCC Assistant Head, prioritising priorities, managing urgent incidents, and ensuring alignment with senior leadership needs.
  • Coordinate incident data across Defence, transforming raw intelligence into actionable reports, warnings, and trends for decision-makers.

Strategic Insight & Reporting

  • Manage relationship with Defence’s intelligence networks (Warning, Advice and Reporting Points, or WARPs), driving cohesion, accuracy, and timeliness in incident reporting.
  • Analyse complex security datasets, using quantitative methods to derive auditable, robust insights for governance and assurance.
  • Translate technical analysis into clear briefings for non-analytical senior leaders (Defence Board, Audit Committee).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
