Security Research Engineer - National Security Business Role We are looking for a talented and inquisitive Security Research Engineer to join our team in Romsey. You will work at the cutting edge of cyber security, researching, developing, and prototyping innovative solutions to protect systems against sophisticated threats. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving hard technical problems, enjoys experimentation, and wants to make a tangible impact in high-stakes environments. You will be responsible for Conduct in-depth research into emerging cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques Design and develop novel security solutions, tools, and prototypes Perform vulnerability analysis, reverse engineering, and security assessments across a range of platforms Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transition research into real-world capabilities Contribute to technical reports, whitepapers, and customer deliverables Stay ahead of the latest developments in cyber security, sharing insights with the wider team Required Skills Essential: Strong background in cyber security, computer science, or a related discipline Experience with one or more of the following: Reverse engineering Exploit development Malware analysis Secure software development Proficiency in programming (e.g., C/C++, Python, or similar) Understanding of operating systems, networks, and system architecture Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Desirable: Experience with embedded systems, mobile platforms, or cloud security Knowledge of cryptography or secure communications Familiarity with vulnerability research tools and frameworks Previous experience in a research or innovation environment Where you’ll work… ROMSEY – Located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking an on-site gym and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring.
