About The Role
This role is an opportunity to help shape and strengthen security service management, working as part of the Service Practice team within Protect BT Group Security Architecture, Engineering and Delivery. The role holder will support the development, improvement and communication of service management practices that help us understand how our security capabilities are performing, where they add value, and how they can continue to meet business needs. Working collaboratively with architecture, engineering, operations, delivery and business teams, you will provide insight, analysis and guidance that supports good decision-making, continuous improvement and clear service outcomes. We are looking for someone who brings curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to learn, as well as relevant experience in service management, security, technology or a related discipline.
This role is hybrid (3 days in office) & can be based in any of the following locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Glasgow / London
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, maintain and support continuous improvement of security service management practices across relevant security architecture sub-domains.
- Use service performance information, value tracking, reporting and data analysis to help services be understood, improved and aligned to business needs.
- Contribute to activities that may include compliance, standards, risk, threat modelling, metrics, maturity models and service improvement planning.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, solution architects, delivery teams and technical specialists to bring managed security services to life and support informed decision-making.
- Provide service management insight into strategic architecture projects, helping ensure that solutions consider business outcomes, usability, service value and longer-term support needs.
- Create clear, reusable and accessible service value patterns, briefing documents and guidance that can be shared across teams.
- Work with business, architecture, technical, governance, delivery and service colleagues to support the effective transition and ongoing management of security services.
- Contribute to roadmaps for security technologies and service management processes, using best practice to align to relevant strategies, policies, standards and practices.
- Support vendor selection and review activity by providing service management insight that will help stakeholders understand value, service fit and business requirements.
- Contribute to research, proof of concept and proof of value activity where service management input can help shape good outcomes.
- Provide security service management information and cyber security guidance to stakeholders across BT Group in a clear, constructive and audience-appropriate way.

Essential Skills / Experience
We are looking for experience and skills in the following areas. You do not need to meet every point to apply.
Experience
- Experience of service management, technology management or another relevant discipline in a complex environment.
- Experience using service information, monitoring, reporting or data analysis to understand performance, risks, issues or improvement opportunities.
- Experience working with stakeholders to understand needs, communicate clearly and support practical decision-making.
- Experience contributing to service improvement, business cases, delivery plans, benefits tracking, governance activity or similar outcomes.
- Experience building knowledge in a technology, security or service area and sharing that knowledge with others.
Skills
- Be organised, motivated and able to manage priorities in a changing environment.
- Be comfortable constructively challenging where needed and working with others to agree realistic timelines and outcomes.
- Be able to explore, structure and communicate complex problems or concepts in a way that others can understand.
- Communicate clearly and confidently, adapting your style for different audiences and situations.
- Be able to interpret stakeholder needs, business priorities and technical considerations.

Qualifications
- A recognised security qualification such as CISSP or CISM would be beneficial but not essential.
- ITIL v4 would be an advantage to have.
- Equivalent practical experience in security, service management, technology or operational environments is equally valued.
