This position is located onsite in Norfolk, Virginia.
Job Overview
The Security Specialist II provides visitor access control, background verification, badging, and access management support for NIWC Atlantic facilities. The position assists Government personnel, contractors, military members, and visitors by processing access requests, supporting Common Access Card (CAC) issuance, maintaining access control records, and delivering customer service in accordance with Government policies and security procedures.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist walk-in customers with access, badging, and visitor processing requests.
- Review and process installation and facility access requests, verify Government sponsorship, and process incoming and outgoing visit requests.
- Verify background investigation status and required documentation to support facility access.
- Create, modify, and deactivate access control system profiles under Government direction.
- Prepare daily access lists, produce badges, and support CAC issuance activities.
- Maintain visitor logs, badge records, and access documentation in accordance with Government requirements.
- Answer customer inquiries related to visitor access and badging.
- Report access control equipment issues and perform routine end-of-day security procedures.
- Perform duties in accordance with applicable Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, and local security policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of visitor control, personnel security, access control, and badging operations.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience using access control systems and security databases preferred.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Level II experience supporting personnel security, visitor control, access control, or badging operations.
- SECRET eligibility and the ability to obtain and maintain required access.

Working Conditions:
- Position is performed entirely onsite at a Government facility in Norfolk, VA.
- Telework is not authorized.
- Employee must be able to work within secure and controlled-access environments.
