The Role
Carlisle Support Services is looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and dedicated individuals to join our team, working with our prestigious clients. Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:
As Security Supervisor, your role is to lead the team, oversee all security activity, and ensure the gatehouse runs safely, professionally, and to the required standard. You manage people, performance, and compliance—not just tasks.
Purpose of Your Role
- Lead and coordinate officers during the shift
- Ensure safe, compliant, professional gatehouse operations
- Act as first point of contact for officers and site management
- Focus on quality control, problem‑solving, and reporting
- Training – toolbox talks
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead by example; maintain professionalism
- Allocate duties, manage rota and arrange cover
- Monitor officer performance and correct issues early
- Act as the escalation point for all officer queries
- Build a confident, effective team each shift

Operational Oversight
- Ensure accurate access control and vehicle checks
- Confirm all sign‑in, paperwork, and documentation is completed correctly
- Oversee patrols and CCTV monitoring
- Ensure proper use of vehicle, keys, and equipment
Compliance & Documentation
- Keep DOB entries and logs accurate and complete
- Complete incident reports and shift summaries
- Ensure officers understand and follow procedures
- Report breaches, near‑misses, or concerns promptly
Communication & Coordination
- Act as main link between officers and site management
- Communicate instructions clearly
- Resolve minor issues independently
- Escalate significant issues quickly and appropriately
Incident Response & Problem‑Solving
- Take charge during incidents
- Control the scene and coordinate officers
- Make decisions using policy, safety, and common sense
- Gather information and complete incident reports
- Liaise with management/emergency services when required
Standards & Professionalism
- Enforce uniform, conduct, customer service, and safety standards
- Promote a professional security culture at all times
Summary of Expectations
As a Security Supervisor, You Should Consistently
- Lead the shift and the team
- Ensure all procedures are followed
- Support, train, and correct officers
- Maintain accurate logs and reports
- Communicate effectively with management and staff
- Protect the gatehouse, the cargo site, and all personnel.
Is this you
- At least 1 year of experience in supervising a team is required
- Previous experience in the railway industry preferred
- At least 18 years old
- FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE
- SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence
- 5 years checkable work and address history
- Reliable, punctual, flexible, and smart in appearance
- Friendly, approachable, and always professional
- Enthusiastic and motivated to do a great job
- Ideally some experience within a Security environment or a customer facing role
- Able to interact with clients and customers in a positive manner
- Some experience working within a Security environment and working as part of a team
- Effective people skills, able to interact with clients and customers in a positive manner
