The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Security and System Administrator to support the security, maintenance and availability of mission-critical systems across classified, sensitive and standalone environments. The role involves system administration, cyber security, user support, backup and recovery, hardware maintenance and configuration management, ensuring systems remain secure, operational and compliant. You will also provide technical support throughout the system lifecycle, from deployment and troubleshooting to decommissioning, while implementing data protection measures to safeguard mission and customer information.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all activities are delivered in compliance with applicable quality, security and engineering standards.
- Administer, maintain and patch secure mission system environments across networked, standalone and air-gapped platforms.
- Support the development, integration, deployment and sustainment of mission systems within a technology development environment.
- Manage system security, encryption, user accounts, backups and recovery processes.
- Build, configure, maintain and troubleshoot mission system hardware and software.
- Investigate and resolve system, network, hardware and cyber security issues.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records and technical baselines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities that enhance system performance, security and supportability.
- Deliver assigned activities to agreed cost, schedule and quality requirements.
- Support customer, supplier and internal stakeholder engagements as required.
- Travel within the UK and overseas to support business and customer needs where necessary.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the role and level of responsibility.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience supporting and maintaining secure mission systems, IT infrastructure or technology development environments.
- Experience administering networked, standalone and air-gapped systems.
- Experience of system administration activities including account management, system builds, software deployment, patching, backup and recovery.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, network and security issues.
- Familiarity with system security controls, encryption technologies and configuration management practices.
- Experience supporting system integration, test and deployment activities.
- Proven ability to deliver against competing priorities, deadlines and operational requirements.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
Desirable
- Experience within Defence, Aerospace, Government or Mission Systems environments.
- Experience with BitLocker, Viasat encryption or other cryptographic solutions.
- Experience supporting accredited or classified systems.
- Relevant Microsoft, Cyber Security or IT Infrastructure certifications.
