Company Overview
Security Systems Specialist Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established, multi-site organisation with a significant presence in South Wales and further operations across Europe. Site security is taken seriously and is overseen by a global security function, with local sites supported by dedicated facilities management teams. As part of continued investment in this area, our client is now looking to appoint a Security Systems Specialist to take ownership of the effectiveness of security systems across their South Wales sites, with the role expected to grow in scope over time.
Role and Responsibilities
Security Systems Specialist Role and Responsibilities:
- Act as the technical point of contact for security systems across three sites in South Wales, with scope to expand to further sites across Europe as the role develops
- Identify, investigate and report on issues affecting CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and related security systems, coordinating specialist contractors and engineers to carry out repairs and ongoing maintenance
- Work closely with onsite security and facilities management teams to review the performance of existing systems and recommend practical improvements
- Develop both immediate fixes and longer-term strategic solutions, rather than simply reacting to day-to-day issues
- Liaise with and present recommendations to senior stakeholders, building the credibility to challenge and influence existing processes and strategy
- Manage relationships with third-party engineers and contractors engaged to install, maintain and repair security systems across all sites

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Skills and Experience
Security Systems Specialist Skills and Experience:
- A proven background in security systems (CCTV, access control, alarm/intruder systems), whether via an engineering, technical or systems management route
- This is a management and oversight role rather than a hands-on, tools-based position - comfortable directing and coordinating specialist contractors rather than carrying out repairs personally
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites, competing priorities and stakeholders
- A confident communicator, comfortable presenting to and influencing senior management
- A strategic mindset, able to identify root causes and propose long-term solutions rather than simply firefighting
