As a Segment Public Relations Senior Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping Baker Hughes’ external communications at the segment level. You will develop high-quality content, manage media relations, support crisis communications, and collaborate across functions to ensure consistent, aligned, and impactful messaging.
You will work closely with segment leadership, brand, marketing, and external partners to deliver integrated PR programs that reinforce Baker Hughes’ leadership in energy technology and industrial innovation.
In this role, you will be:
- Drafting and editing diverse communication materials, including press releases, external messaging, and media briefs in accordance with AP Style
- Ensuring all content aligns with brand guidelines, enterprise narrative, and strategic objectives
- Owning KPI measurement and analyzing data (reach, SOV, campaign metrics) to drive insights and inform decisions
- Providing administrative support to the PR & Media Relations function, including budget tracking, subscription management, and coverage reporting
- Developing and implementing strategic communication plans, including pitching stories to global and trade media
- Serving as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinating accurate, consistent responses
- Supporting the organization in managing reputation during sensitive issues or crises
- Collaborating with leadership to align media efforts with corporate goals, including managing media lists and monitoring coverage
- Preparing media briefings for interviews and leadership engagements
- Building and nurturing relationships with journalists, reporters, and media influencers

- Drafting and editing high-quality communication materials across multiple formats
- Ensuring all messaging aligns with brand standards, enterprise priorities, and AP Style
- Supporting integrated communication planning across campaigns, announcements, and corporate initiatives
Media Relations & Storytelling
- Pitching stories to global and trade media to secure meaningful coverage
- Serving as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinating accurate, timely responses
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, reporters, and industry influencers
- Preparing media briefings, talking points, and interview materials
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Owning KPI tracking and analyzing PR performance metrics to generate actionable insights
- Monitoring media coverage and maintaining accurate reporting dashboards
- Using data to inform strategy, optimize messaging, and strengthen media engagement
Crisis & Issues Management
- Supporting the organization in managing reputation during sensitive issues or crises
- Maintaining a calm, professional approach when navigating high-pressure situations
- Aligning crisis responses with legal, compliance, and enterprise communications teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborating with segment leadership to align PR efforts with business goals
- Partnering with internal teams, agencies, and vendors to ensure alignment and timely execution
- Facilitating approvals and stakeholder engagement across functions
To be successful in this role you will:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- Have 6–8 years of experience in media relations, PR, or corporate communications
- Have demonstrated strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with mastery of AP Style
- Bring proven experience in proactive pitching and crisis management
- Have been able to manage multiple projects under pressure while meeting deadlines
- Have demonstrated strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform decisions
- Have provided strategic PR counsel and effectively managed client needs and challenges
- Have fostered positive stakeholder relationships and facilitated cross-functional collaboration
- Have maintained a calm, professional approach to conflict and crisis communications
- Have been familiar with AI-assisted tools for content drafting, compliance checks, and workflow efficiency
