Overview
The Brown Cow in Chatburn is a beautiful country pub with rustic character, a strong local following, and an outstanding reputation for friendly service, a warm welcome, and cosy atmosphere. Located in the heart of the Ribble Valley, it offers a rare opportunity for a Management Partner to take on this highly regarded venue with a loyal customer base. The pub has just received a large investment and moved onto our Fireside Collection concept.
The Pub and Location
The Brown Cow is situated on Bridge Road, Chatburn, a picturesque village near Clitheroe in Lancashire. Chatburn itself is a thriving village within the scenic Ribble Valley, attracting both locals and visitors who appreciate its countryside charm, walking routes, and proximity to the market town of Clitheroe. The pub sits at the centre of community life and is often regarded as one of the area’s most popular and best-reviewed establishments.
The pub includes:

Ideal Partner
We are seeking a high-calibre, hands-on operator to lead The Brown Cow into its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven background in running a high-quality pub, restaurant, or hospitality venue, preferably with food-led trade.
- Strong operational skills across staffing, stock, compliance, financial management, and customer experience.
- Ability to maintain and grow the pub’s reputation for excellent food and warm hospitality through events, seasonal menus, and function bookings.
- A natural host who thrives in village-pub environments and enjoys building rapport with locals.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for families, diners, locals, walkers, and dog owners.
- Skilled at promoting the pub’s offer, using both community engagement and digital channels.
