Project Description
We are seeking a Senior Semantic Architect to design and implement semantic data frameworks that provide a shared structure for enterprise data. In this industry-agnostic role, you will:
- Build and maintain ontologies and knowledge graphs
- Enforce semantic validation for data quality
- Collaborate with AI teams to integrate semantic structures into intelligent applications
Your expertise should span semantic web technologies adaptable to any enterprise context.
Responsibilities

Ontology Design & Maintenance
- Design, develop, and maintain ontologies (using OWL/RDF or similar)
- Collaborate with domain experts to model real-world concepts and validate business knowledge accuracy
- Ensure a consistent, shared data vocabulary across the organization

Knowledge Graph Development
- Build and manage enterprise knowledge graphs, linking diverse data sources into unified graph data models
- Configure graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) or triple stores, populate with RDF triples, and optimize for query performance

Semantic Querying (SPARQL)
- Develop and optimize SPARQL queries for efficient data retrieval, integration, and analytics
- Create semantic endpoints that enable advanced search and insights

Validation Rules & Data Quality
- Implement semantic validation rules (SHACL/OWL constraints) to enforce data integrity
- Define/review data modelling conventions and business rules
- Ensure interoperable, structured enterprise data

Integration with Enterprise Systems
- Work with engineers, architects, and IT teams on seamless ontology/knowledge graph integration
- Embed semantic models in data pipelines, APIs, and databases

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with AI/ML teams to enhance knowledge graphs for AI-driven solutions
- Advise business analysts and data stewards on aligning semantic models with business goals
- Communicate semantic concepts to non-technical stakeholders

- Integration with AI Agents

- Support AI solutions (e.g., chatbots) using semantic data for better knowledge retrieval and reasoning
Skills & Technical Requirements
Mandatory Skills
- Ontology Design (using OWL/RDF)
- Semantic Web Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of RDF and SPARQL
- Knowledge Graph Experience: Enterprise-level implementation and maintenance
- Data Modelling & Integration: Mastery of translating real-world entities into semantic schemas
- Programming: Proficiency in Python, Java, or a like tool
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Metadata Standards: Dublin Core, schema.org, or industry-standard ontologies
- AI/LLM Integration: Experience in embedding ontologies/knowledge graphs to enhance AI performance
- Enterprise Integration: Proven expertise integrating semantic tools into systems/edge data platforms
Languages Required
- English: C1 Advanced or higher
