Randstad Education is currently seeking passionate, resilient Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistants to work with mainstream primary schools across the Leeds area. In this supply role, you will be the calming presence and vital support link for children who face barriers to their learning, helping them feel safe, understood, and ready to succeed.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this rewarding SEMH supply role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Recent UK Primary School Experience: You must have recent, practical experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a UK primary school setting.
- Proven SEMH Experience: Strong, hands-on experience supporting primary-aged children with social, emotional, mental health, or associated behavioural needs (such as ADHD, autism, or attachment difficulties).
- De-escalation and Nurture Skills: A proven ability to use positive behaviour management, nurture strategies, or de-escalation techniques (training such as Team Teach is highly desirable but not essential).
- Safeguarding Compliance: A valid, enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check through Randstad).
- An Adaptable and Resilient Nature: The emotional resilience, empathy, and patience required to support pupils through challenging moments, alongside a proactive attitude when stepping into different mainstream classrooms.
