Salary: £26,000–£32,000

Working Arrangements: Full Time | Flexible and Hybrid Working

Location: Southend-on-Sea

Role Description

A well-established independent accountancy practice in Southend is looking to add an Accounts Semi-Senior to its growing team.

This is a broad general practice position supporting a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

You’ll be involved in accounts preparation, VAT, corporation tax, and self-assessment work, with the opportunity to build stronger relationships with clients as you develop.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare year-end accounts for a varied client portfolio
  • Complete VAT returns and bookkeeping reviews
  • Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Assist clients with digital accounting and MTD
  • Deal with routine client queries
  • Communicate with clients to obtain records and resolve queries
  • Work closely with senior colleagues and managers
  • Help support less-experienced team members when required

What you’ll need

  • Around 2–3 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
  • AAT qualified, part-qualified or studying towards Level 4
  • Experience working with sole traders and limited companies
  • A comfortable and professional approach to client communication
  • Further professional study is welcomed but not essential
