About the Role
Looking for hardworking and reliable Semi skilled - pipe cutter to join a busy pipe fabrication and engineering environment. This is a hands-on role that involves threading steel pipes and working from engineering drawings to cut pipe to correct lengths. £33,087 basic salary for 42 hours working Monday to Thursday only! 34 days holiday when permanent! The primary responsibility as Semi skilled - pipe cutter is threading steel pipes, which forms the majority of the daily workload. This involves securing pipes in a vice and using a threading tool to thread pipe ends to specification - using a measuring tape!
Key Responsibilities
- Threading steel pipes using manual threading equipment.
- Placing pipes into a vice and operating threading tools to create threaded pipe ends
- Use of a measuring tape - good mathematical experience required!
- Painting pipe spools and preparing finished products for dispatch.
- Packing orders ready for shipment.
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles.

Assisting with pipe preparation activities, including:

Band saw operation
-
Shot blasting
-
Cutting and preparing materials pipes from engineering drawings for welders

Booking in deliveries and orders using the company's computer system (full training provided).

Scanning delivery notes and updating stock records.

Carrying out stock-taking activities.

Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment, including sweeping floors and emptying bins.

Following all company health and safety procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Comfortable carrying out repetitive manual tasks throughout the working day.
- Physically fit and capable of handling (long) steel pipes and materials
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and drawings
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or warehouse environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 5:30pm, 42 hours per week paid
- Two paid 30-minute breaks per day
- Overtime - Fridays at Time and a Half (x1.5)
