Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) required.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualification—or willingness to complete it within the statutory timeframe.
- Proven experience as a SENCO or Assistant SENCO, preferably within:
- Alternative provision
- PRU (Pupil Referral Unit)
- Specialist SEN settings
- Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, with expertise in:
- Managing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Conducting annual reviews
- Strong track record supporting young people with:
- Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Highly challenging behaviors
- Leadership skills to:
- Manage a team of educators/HLTAs
- Work effectively alongside parents, external multi-agency networks, and local authorities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-style environment where processes are evolving, with the vision to:
- Design and oversee adapted curriculum plans
- Must hold a valid right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service—or willingness to obtain one.
