Job Opportunity: SEN EYFS/KS1 Teacher

Are you an inspirational and adaptable primary teacher with expertise in supporting pupils with special educational needs? Do you excel at modifying learning for children at the very beginning of their educational journey across Early Years and Key Stage 1? Are you looking for a rewarding, full-time autumn term placement that allows you to make an immediate impact?

If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN EYFS/KS1 Teacher for a high-quality short-term temporary position starting in September 2026. Based within a highly regarded specialist provision in the Castleford area, this role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a skilled, supportive team.

They are a warm, welcoming, and purposeful specialist provision that is entirely dedicated to providing high-quality education for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties, autism, and complex needs. About The Role

In this full-time role, you will take lead of a small class of pupils working within the EYFS and Key Stage 1 developmental frameworks. Your primary focus will be on delivering creative, hands-on lessons that seamlessly blend play-based exploration with targeted academic and personal interventions. Leading a dedicated team of teaching assistants, you will ensure a consistent, structured routine that reduces frustration and helps young learners build their confidence and independence.

Skills Required

  • Curriculum Adaptation: The ability to differentiate the EYFS and KS1 curriculum into highly accessible, small-step learning paths for pupils with complex needs.
  • Communication Support: Experience utilising inclusive communication strategies, including Makaton, PECS, and object/visual schedules.
  • Classroom Leadership: Proven skills in managing a small class team of support staff to deliver structured, cohesive, and safe interventions.
  • Nurturing Approach: A patient, empathetic nature capable of decoding communication behaviours and providing positive emotional regulation support.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with special educational needs (SEN) within the UK.
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
  • An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
