If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting an inspirational Post-16 SEN Teacher to lead a class of young adults. Based within a cutting-edge, specialist post-16 hub in the South Leeds area, this full-time role is a long-term temporary position starting in September 2026.
About The School
They are an innovative, state-of-the-art specialist post-16 learning hub that replicates a modern college environment rather than a traditional school setting. They cater to young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who are ready to develop their independence within a dynamic business and learning community. Built entirely around the Preparation for Adulthood framework, they pride themselves on strong local business links, independence training, and helping young adults successfully transition into employment, voluntary work, or community-based provisions.

About The Role
In this specialised role, you will lead a classroom of post-16 learners with a diverse range of special educational needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties. Moving away from rigid academic testing, your curriculum will focus heavily on functional life skills, independent travel, social communication, and employability. Managing a dedicated team of support staff, you will teach young people how to navigate the wider world confidently, facilitating work experience, mock interviews, and community-based learning.
Skills Required
- Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) Delivery: Proven experience planning and delivering an age-appropriate post-16 curriculum focused on independent living, health, community inclusion, and employment.
- Functional Skills Teaching: Ability to deliver practical, contextualised English, Maths, and ICT tailored to real-world scenarios (e.g., managing money, reading timetables).
- Community and Transition Facilitation: Experience organising external learning opportunities, travel training, and workplace partnerships to build student independence.
- Collaborative Leadership: Exceptional skills in managing a team of classroom assistants and working alongside external careers advisors and transition teams.

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification.
- Proven experience working with post-16 or Key Stage 4 learners with complex special educational needs (SEN) within the UK.
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (please note, visa sponsorship is not available).
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
