SEN Science Teacher

Specialist SEN School | Walthamstow

Full-Time | Temp to Perm Opportunity

£200 - £275 per day | Immediate Start or September Start

A highly regarded specialist SEN school in East London is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

The school supports pupils aged 3-19 with a range of additional needs including visual impairment, Autism, communication difficulties and associated learning needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, highly inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally whilst building the skills needed for adulthood.

As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting learning to meet individual needs and ensuring pupils can access the curriculum through a range of specialist approaches and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons across a range of ability levels, including Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE pathways
  • Plan and differentiate lessons to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Support pupils with Autism, visual impairment, communication needs and additional learning difficulties
  • Create engaging practical learning opportunities that develop curiosity, independence and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, specialist support staff and families to maximise pupil outcomes
  • Adapt resources to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all learners
  • Take responsibility for a tutor group, supporting pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and personal development
  • Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP processes and multi-agency meetings where required
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence across the school day
  • Contribute to enrichment activities, educational visits and wider school life

We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary setting
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and differentiated learning
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, resilient and proactive approach
  • Experience within SEN, SEND or alternative provision is desirable but not essential
  • Teachers from mainstream backgrounds with a genuine interest in SEN are encouraged to apply
