Learning Mentor - September Start

Term Time Only Tower Hamlets £105-£115 per day DOE
A warm, inclusive and community-focused primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a committed and proactive Learning Mentor to join their team from September. The school is known for its strong pastoral ethos, high expectations, and exceptional support for pupils with diverse needs. Staff work collaboratively, behaviour is well-managed, and the leadership team places a strong emphasis on nurturing confidence, resilience and positive learning habits.
This is a full-time, long-term role ideal for graduates who are passionate about supporting children's wellbeing, emotional development and academic progress.
About The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning - whether academic, behavioural, emotional or social. You will work closely with class teachers, pastoral leads and the SEN team to ensure pupils receive consistent, targeted support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions to pupils who require additional support
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills and engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and SEN professionals
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interventions
- Promote positive behaviour and act as a calm, reliable role model
- Encourage attendance, punctuality and readiness to learn
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents and staff

What We're Looking For
- A degree is essential (Psychology, Criminology, Social Sciences, Education Studies, Arts or related fields highly desirable)
- Previous experience supporting children or young people (school, youth work, mentoring, tutoring or similar)
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
- Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to follow safeguarding procedures consistently and professionally
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
