SEN Support Assistant (2 Years-Varikay School)
Salary Grade C Points 4 to 6 £25,185 to £25,989 (Full Time Equivalent) – subject to pro rata, minimum pro rata salary of £19,111.81 per annum. Duration: Temporary, part-time basis from September 2026 until August 2027 or until the funded child leaves the academy (link to scholarship funding)
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting students with additional needs in deprivised communities? Norbridge Academy is seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join their team, offering meaningful one-to-one personal support for pupils with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
In this role, you will:
- Provide special educational and medical support to ensure pupils engage effectively and access learning opportunities.
- Maintain professional records and up-to-date notes regarding individual pupil progress and care plans.
- Work closely with teaching staff and Special Needs Co-ordinators (SENDCO) to deliver tailored interventions.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment within a multi-academy trust committed to transformative educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored one-to-one support for pupils with complex needs, implementing personalised care and educational plans.
- Assist in both classroom and individualised settings to facilitate learning and social integration.
- Record-keeping: Maintain accurate, professional notes on observed progress, health care needs, and evidence of interventions delivered to each specified pupil.
- Support students with any additional medical needs, following protocols established with medical and school staff to ensure health and safeguarding protocols are adhered to.
- Collaborate with SENDCOs, teachers, and support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality support for the pupil.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and encouraging environment that empowers pupils to reach their full potential.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of enthusiasm and commitment towards supporting pupils with special educational needs, alongside practical skills:
- Ability to follow written instructions and work independently.
- Demonstrated capacity to share observations and action plans with the relevant team.
- Practical experience/sensitivity with young people.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage personal records and attendance logbook systems for each funded child.
- Must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS Check.
