About the Role & Organisation
St Bart’s Multi Academy Trust (SBMAT), in partnership with **grieving,” the Governors, staff, and children of Weston Junior Academy, seeks to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our warm, supportive, and dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities
The SEN Support Worker will play a crucial role in teaching assistance, personal care, and behavioural support, working closely with the teacher and wider team to ensure pupils with special needs are included, empowered, and progress effectively.
Learning & Teaching Support
- Implement planned learning activities and teaching programmes as directed, adjusting support to respond to pupil interactions and progress.
- Provide real-time feedback to teachers on individual pupil progress and behavioural observation.
- Assist in recording assessments, monitoring achievements, and sharing updates with class staff.
- Follow teacher guidance to give constructive feedback to pupils on their work.
- Source, arrange, and provide educational resources (materials, activities) as required.
- Embed independent learning strategies tailored to each pupil’s needs.

Pastoral & Emotional Wellbeing
- Support pupils in social and emotional resilience, reporting concerns to teachers promptly.
- Provide consistent and responsive oversight, including maintaining individual focus plans (behavioural, social, or educational goals).
- Collaborate with other staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to share pupil-centred updates (example: speech therapists, occupational therapists, or care coordinators).
Medical & Personal Care
- Assist with personal needs (toileting, hygiene/dressing, feeding) under safeguarding guidelines.
- Offer physical support in activities when necessary, including short periods of lifting/positioning for those with physical disabilities/mobility challenges.
- Administer medication as per an approved plan, following healthcare practitioner’s guidance and approved training.
- Supervise pupils during routines (breakfast, lunchtime, free play, classroom time, after-school sessions).
SEN-Specific Responsibilities
- Work alongside therapy programmes (e.g., occupational therapy activities) if organised and led by a specialist.
- Support participation in educational trips/external visits and transitions (home, other schools, community sites).
- Enable digital access via basic ICT, including communication devices, software, or assistive tech tools.
- Assemble and put away equipment; maintain cleaning routines within a disability-inclusive setting.
Safeguarding & Additional Duties
- At all times, promote and model safeguarding practices, adhering strictly to academy policy.
- Report serious concerns or incidents according to internal procedures.
Miscellaneous
- Undertake any other reasonable requests appropriate to the post, subject to flexibility and availability.

Essential
- Qualified Level 3 SEN support qualification (or equivalent).
- Ability to build rapport with pupils exhibiting challenging behaviours or complex needs.
- First-hand experience in assisting with personal/medical tasks (toileting, hygiene, mobility).
- Patience, empathy, and belief in the power of inclusive education.
- Willingness to undergo Enhanced DCC clearance.
Desirable
- Experience in supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, or complex learning needs.
- Training or hands-on work with movement/handling techniques and medication management.
- A team player mindset, with comfort in collaborating with SLT, therapists, OT’s, and external agencies.
