SEN Teacher
SEN Teacher: Linton & Surrounding Areas
Are you an accomplished Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher looking for a structured, highly rewarding long-term role? We are currently recruiting for a full-time, long-term vacancy at a leading specialist provision near Linton (Cambridgeshire/Essex border).
About the Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to deploy your expertise across both early years and primary key stages, supporting pupils with diverse and complex learning pathways.
This is a full-time contract role requiring a dedicated practitioner who can deliver high-quality, semi-formal curricula while maintaining a highly structured learning environment. Full lesson planning, preparation, and assessment are mandatory.
Your Weekly Schedule
- Monday: Leading provisions within an Early Years (EYFS) specialist setting, focusing on early intervention and sensory communication.
- Tuesday to Friday: Class teaching across two Key Stage 2 (KS2) nurture classrooms, managing academic progression and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for planning, preparing, and delivering highly tailored, semi-formal lessons catered to a wide range of developmental abilities.
- Implement structured SEND approaches (incorporating routines, visual schedules, and clear environmental boundaries) to reduce anxiety and promote independent learning.
- Support pupils with diverse complex needs, including severe communication barriers and autism-specific sensory profiles.
- Confidently manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, adhering to individual Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) with a calm, resilient, and non-judgemental approach.
- Lead and direct classroom support staff (Higher Level Teaching Assistants and Teaching Assistants) to ensure safe, cohesive, and effective learning environments.

Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching pupils with Autism (ASC) and associated complex needs.
- Experience working within a semi-formal curriculum setting, focusing on life skills, functional academics, and communication rather than traditional metrics.
- Deep understanding of highly structured SEND frameworks, e.g., TEACCH principles, visual timelines, and low-arousal strategies.
- Strong positive behaviour management skills—physical intervention training (e.g., Team-Teach) is highly desirable.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to initiate).
