SEN Teacher - Basildon

Education and training | Mainstream Primary School | September 2026 Start

A highly regarded and well-resourced Primary School in Basildon is seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teacher to join their exceptional team, within their Autism Provision. This is a full-time long-term position, available to start from September 2026.

The provision supports children and young people with ASD, with the aim of integrating them back into mainstream education. Every pupil is unique, and the school prides itself on offering a holistic, child-centred approach that includes a multi-disciplinary team, specialist equipment, and purpose-built facilities.

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering meaningful and creative learning experiences, with a strong emphasis on communication, sensory engagement, and life skills. You will be supported by a team of experienced support staff and benefit from excellent training, CPD, and career development opportunities.

JOB OVERVIEW - SEN Teacher (PMLD Focus)

  • Full-time, long-term position
  • September 2026 start
  • MPS1 - MPS6 + SEN Allowance
  • Located in Basildon, Essex
  • Small class sizes with high levels of support
  • Emphasis on sensory curriculum and personalised learning
  • Multi-agency working with therapists and medical staff

PERSON SPECIFICATION - SEN Teacher

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) is essential
  • Experience teaching pupils with ASD or complex needs preferred
  • Confident using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC)
  • Patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about SEN education
  • Able to work collaboratively with LSAs, therapists, and families
  • Open to ECTs with SEN placement experience and a genuine interest in PMLD
