SEN Teacher
SEN Teacher: KS1 (Autism and SLD)
Full-Time, Islington, Central London – September Start
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a warm and supportive team in a specialist school in Islington. This exciting role involves teaching a settled KS1 class of students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and SLD (Specific Learning Difficulties), following a sensory curriculum. The class benefits from strong and consistent classroom support.

Key Responsibilities
Supporting Students
- Teach and mentor small groups of students.
- Develop a clear understanding of individual educational needs.
- Deliver a sensory-based curriculum tailored to each child’s learning style.
- Support students effectively in class, group, and 1:1 settings.
- Establish strong, supportive relationships with students.
- Encourage integration and inclusion across all aspects of school life.
- Promote and reinforce students’ confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
- Ensure students remain on task, motivated, and engaged.
- Undertake break and lunchtime duties where needed to support students (particularly those with ASD).
- Provide support with physical or sensory needs as required.

Collaborating with the SENDCO
- Work closely with the SENDCO, HLTA, and TA team to deliver outstanding provision.
- Lead on HLTA and TA timetabling, ensuring effective classroom support.
- Line-manage and mentor support staff within the classroom.
- Support with SEND student profile updates and targeted monitoring.
- Contribute insights to intervention reviews by providing regular progress feedback.
- Monitor the academic progress and emotional wellbeing of assigned students.
Requirements
You may be suitable for this role if:
- You are available to start in full-time capacity.
- You have proven experience in SEN teaching, ideally with KS1/Primary-aged students.
- You are confident in delivering a sensory-based curriculum.
- You can commute to Islington from September.
- You commit to a long-term or permanent role.
