Teacher Vacancy: Fitzwaryn School & Satellite Site at St John’s Academy

Propeller Academy Trust is seeking to hire a dedicated and passionate teacher to support a satellite expansion at the site of St John’s Academy, Grove, launching in September 2026.
About the Role
We are looking for a teacher to work at Fitzwaryn School—a well-regarded, outstanding secondary school based in Wantage, specialising in serving aged 3-19 pupils with:
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Autism (ASD)
A dedicated teacher with a strong understanding of special educational needs (SEN) is vital to meeting our high standards, while making a true lifelong impact on every pupil’s education.
Our purpose-built classrooms enable us to provide exciting, personalised lesson plans that help pupils to settle a role in wider society. We believe empowered staff are essential to supporting small, expert teams working together.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to each pupil’s developmental needs.
- Assess and inform interventions and personalised progress using effective monitoring.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment that supports wellbeing, independence and dignity.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, support staff and families to ensure holistic pupil development.
- Contribute to whole-school development, integrating our inclusive, forward-thinking ethos.
- Active participation in professional learning, sharing and developing best practice across the school.

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the ability to adapt teaching methods to crack a wide range of developmentally diverse needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, Autism.
- Solid experience or understanding of how pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) learn, including pedagogical theory and current best practice.
- First-hand experience or comprehensive knowledge of working with pupils with EHCPs (Educational Health and Care Plans).
- Familiarity with SEN legislation, related guidance on safeguarding, and curriculum standards.
- Creative, adaptable and completely committed to our ethos, values and inclusive vision, taking a resilient, proactive approach to development.
- Willing to build strong relationships with pupils and families, while working effectively as part of a team.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and a growth mindset-regarded in practice.
