SEN Teacher - Complex Needs (KS3, KS4 or Post-16)

A highly respected specialist SEN school in West London is looking to appoint committed and enthusiastic Teachers to join its team this September. Opportunities are available across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Post-16, with placements matched to your experience and strengths.
The school supports pupils aged 11-19 with severe and profound learning disabilities, alongside Autism, ADHD, complex medical needs and associated communication difficulties. Many pupils are working well below age-related expectations and require highly personalised teaching, structured routines and consistent support to access learning and achieve their EHCP outcomes.
Classes are intentionally small and well staffed, allowing teachers to build strong relationships with pupils while delivering an individualised curriculum focused on communication, independence, functional life skills and preparation for adulthood. Pupils benefit from regular community-based learning, sensory approaches and a highly practical curriculum designed around their individual needs.

You'll work closely with experienced Teaching Assistants, therapists, nurses and pastoral staff to provide an ambitious, nurturing education that enables every pupil to make meaningful progress, however that progress may look.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
- Teaching pupils with severe learning disabilities (SLD), profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), Autism and additional complex needs.
- Delivering personalised learning using structured teaching approaches, visual supports and sensory strategies.
- Supporting pupils with communication needs, including AAC, PECS and other alternative communication methods where appropriate.
- Promoting independence, emotional regulation, life skills and engagement through creative, practical learning.
- Leading and working collaboratively with experienced Teaching Assistants to maximise pupil progress.
- Working alongside Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Educational Psychologists and nursing teams.
- Monitoring progress through ongoing assessment and contributing to Annual Reviews and EHCP targets.
- Supporting educational visits and community learning opportunities where appropriate.
- Building strong partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and high expectations for every learner.
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND within either specialist or mainstream settings.
- A good understanding of Autism, severe learning difficulties and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Confidence leading classes supported by Teaching Assistants.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour support.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people with complex needs achieve their potential.
