I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Role
This unique role combines teaching, SEN expertise, and leadership to directly impact the lives of the most vulnerable children in our academy. While a focus on SEN specification is highly beneficial, some teaching for the mainstream will be expected.
You will:
- Provide high-quality “first teach”, adapting lessons for diverse learning needs.
- Implement inductions involving adaptive SEN strategies for staff.
- Champion inclusivity, ensuring the school’s pastoral and curriculum aims align with every pupil’s success.
- Foster strong relationships with parents and external agencies like Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) and Early Childhood Intervention (EC).
Ideal Candidate
We would love to hear from someone who:
- Teaches and manages pupils with complex SEND needs.
- Possesses (or works towards) an NASENCO or NPQ-SenCo qualification.
- Has a proven track record of high-quality teaching delivery.
- Understands the needs of primary-aged learners, balancing both academic and pastoral aspects.
- Can implement and reinforce consistent, effective behaviour management.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and flexibly, embracing the role’s varied challenges.
- Solemnly aligns with the school’s Church of England values and ethos.
Soft skills matter! Due to the part-sessional nature of this role, applicants must demonstrate strong time management and the ability to balance workload effectively. Crucially, you should champion and support the school’s focus on children’s welfare first.
